feed me!

Marion started "eating" cereal for the first time last Wednesday! I'm not sure how much actually made it to her tummy, she seemed to just hold it in her mouth for a while and then spit it all out. She's had "dinner" every day since and the improvement is slow! I will say, however, that it's going much better than it did with Grace...
... maybe Marion will be a less dramatic child... one can hope!

Yes, I'm going all whole grain and organic this time around- with Grace I just did the standard Gerber. For some reason when I bought this I was expecting brown baby cereal, like it would be brown rice... but it looks the same, white as ever.

her first meal!

Holding, then spitting... over and over. At least there was no crying!
Grace LOVES to help feed Marion!

gray's getaway

Some pictures from Grace's weekend...
She spent the weekend at Nana and Paw Paw's house. It was the longest she has ever been away from me. I missed her lots, but it really was nice to be able to give Marion that one on one attention that Grace got everyday as a baby.

It was a rainy weekend around here, so they bought Grace the rain boots and umbrella that she's modeling in the pictures. They visited the annual "Henleyfield Fun Day" and watched Paw Paw's favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz, a few times. Grace came home with flowers for me too... I think one of every kind from the greenhouses!

exersaucing!

Marion played in her exersaucer for the first time yesterday! She liked it even more than I expected and was happy in it for about 10 minutes... a long time for a little one! It's so exciting just for her to have something new to do!

mommy and me

Marion completed her first six week session of Mommy and Me last week. Did she enjoy it? Well, I guess as much as a bitty baby enjoys anything! There were days she seemed to enjoy it lots, days she wanted to nurse lots, and even days that I couldn't even get her to wake up to play! We were there and all, she just slept through it and there's no waking Marion up if she wants to sleep.

Since Grace was out of school last week, she tagged along. When I told her she was going to "Marion's school" to watch, she said, "No! I don't want to watch Marion, I'm going to HELP her!" I think Marion truly enjoyed having her big sister there!

playing catch up!

ok, I've been a bit stressed this past week and I missed a few things. let's play catch-up!

Marion's gotten pretty chunky!!

Grace had a dress rehearsal for the recital next weekend.

Yes, sometimes Grace gets out of the bath, puts her undies on, and hangs out naked for a while... but that's not the point of this picture! I was busy getting myself ready and Marion was getting upset in her swing. Grace rode up on her wheely bug and started talking and singing to Marion. Marion looked at her big sister, stopped crying, and started smiling. It was the first time that had happened and it was so sweet!

Cousin Lillie made her First Communion at St.Charles in Picayune. The girls got all dressed up! They behaved surprisingly well through the service, with a little entertainment from Nana and Paw Paw.
Lillie and Uncle Tim cutting the cake at the Mexican restaurant afterward.

Grace and Cousin Lillie... Grace actually asked me to take a picture of her with Lillie. She totally thought Lillie looked like a princess in her First Communion dress!

the graduate

Grace graduated 2 year old preschool last week!

She wrote her name on her gifts to her friends!

On the last day of school the kids performed the "Super Duper, We're So Sad It's the End of the Year Program!" It was awesome. The kids sang and danced to 14 songs they had learned this year. Grace's favorites were "Five Little Monkeys Swinging From a Tree," "God Made All of Me" and "Days of the Week," sung to the tune of the Adam's Family theme song.

They performed on the big stage in the Children's Theater and there were about 50 kids on stage... but I could hear Grace loud and clear! She loves to sing and I had already heard most of the songs at home.

I am so proud of you Grace! You had a wonderful first year of school and learned so much. You are such a sweet and smart little girl. I admit I am worried about how I will keep you entertained this summer! I'm looking forward to more time to just hang out with you!

trying to roll

Marion has started trying to roll from her back to her belly this week. She hasn't made it, but boy does she try! She gets her shoulder over and is on her side from the belly up, but she can't get that booty to flip over... she'll eventually get it... but she's so cute trying for now! :)

my littlest water baby... mother's day

Jeremy, Grace and Marion all helped to make this homemade bouquet for me for Mother's Day. Isn't it lovely?! The did it along with some friends while us mommies were having a girl's night out. Grace was so excited and couldn't wait to give it to me... but she did wait! This was her first successful secret keeping!!! She even teared up one night telling me, "but I just want to tell you your surprise!!!"

She also made me a handprint plate at school. The teacher sent it home wrapped with a note that read, "Do not open until Mother's Day!" Grace handed it to me immediately when I picked her up and yelled as excited as could be... "It's a glass plate!!!!" I did wait to open it :)

Jeremy and the girls also gave me a gift certificate to a boutique... that's already spent ;), and a gift certificate to a spa... that probably won't get spent because I have to go sans kiddos, which is seeming as impoosible as ever with preschool out!

After gifts, we packed up and headed to a friend's pool. We had so much fun! Both girls loved the water and Jeremy and I really needed the break from the unpacking!

Marion relaxing poolside in her bouncy seat!

Grace jumped right in! It was her first time in the pool this summer. I'm loving the floaties now that I have two to handle!

Our attempt at a group shot.

Just Daddy and May May, Grace swam off!

I'm not sure what was going through my head in the following sequence... apparently, I just snapped away as my 3 year old dumped a bucket of water on my 3 month old... not okay!! Marion cried a little, but got over it fast.... Mommy's so sorry honey!

a happy Mommy!

I tried

I'm going to blame the movers. The Friday before our move, they were coming to pack our garage and attic...or so they said. When they arrived, they took over the whole house packing every thing under the roof. I wasn't prepared for the house to be packed, and inevitably, some things were packed by the movers that shouldn't have been... for instance, the cocoons. Ooops.

When we unpacked them at our new home, we got quite a surprise...

We had butterflies!!!

Okay, so after a few days as cocoons, they were supposed to have been transferred to a large mesh container, where they would have plenty of room to spread their wings when they emerged as butterflies. The transfer never happened and our poor helpless bugs hatched into this...

There are five butterflies in this little cup... no room for flapping, much less flying.

They didn't immediately fly off, Grace was able to really check them out!

We quickly released them into our new backyard. They flew off one by one and Grace was thrilled! Maybe next year we'll try again and we will take a little better care of them!

home sweet home

It's been a long week! We are moved and almost settled into our new home. I absolutely love it! It has so many wonderful things that we've always wanted. I love the fixtures, the flooring, and most importantly, the floorplan. We have plenty of bedrooms and they're all big. There's a downstairs playroom for the kids for while they're little and and upstairs hangout apartment with 2 rooms and a bath for when they're older. I love the yard... a huge deck, beautiful landscaping and fabulous lighting! And then there's the part that sold my dear husband... 3 car garage and separate brick workshop. Really, I don't know how we were surviving without them... they're already packed full!

Another big reason for the move was to get closer into town to cut down on my time in the car. It's wonderful, I feel like I have moved out of the country and into the city! Most places I go take about 5 minutes; it took longer than that just to get out of our old subdivision.

I had been taking some heat from my dad the past couple weeks for the frequent house jumping. Today, when he visited the new house, he conceded that it was way better than our last home... it was obvious, the move was worth it!

Yes, it was worth it, but still really stressful... harder than I remembered... but maybe that's due to the 2 princesses. Jeremy and I have had different priorities this week. I wanted to get things unpacked and back to normal. He couldn't wait to get the high tech wiring and technology in this house fully functioning. After a lengthy stay at Best Buy, followed by an even lengthier receipt, he spent the next two days on the living room floor plugging, unplugging and rearranging wiring until he got it all just right. The need to play different audio on the deck speakers than on the indoor speakers when we were still up to our necks in boxes confused me to say the least. Luckily, we had a friend over to keep me company much of the week. Our attempts to not argue in front of her (although not 100% successful!) definitely saved us from a few extra fights this week. She may have even saved our marriage... it was a chaotic week! Thanks girl! ;)

It's been difficult to pack up our life and move 8 miles down the road, but so worth it! I picked out a very beautiful and very pricey chandelier for over my kitchen island today. I came home without it to think about whether I wanted to fork out that much money for a light when we still need lots of new furniture. Jeremy told me to get the light I really want... because I'll be looking at it for a very long time.

Friends, if you see me put a for sale sign out in my yard again, yank it up and RUN LIKE HELL! I'll thank you later.... moving sucks!

this addiction runs in the family

Little Marion found her thumb this week. I just broke Grace of the her thumb and here we go again! Little May May gets so into in and is so loud, I've mistaken her for Lucy, our 70 pound boxer that can't hold her licker! Marion likes pacifiers too, which Grace never did... we'll see which one sticks!
