Preparing for Gustav

We haven't done much over the past couple days other than prepare for Hurricane Gustav. Although he does look like he'll be passing a good bit west of us, you never know. Day 1 of the shopping was chaotic... the stores were quickly out of water and batteries and the gas stations were empty. By the next day there was plenty of gas around town and the grocery stores were well stocked again. Today I even saw crates of bottled water on clearance at Lowe's- they can't get rid of the stuff!

Well, today was my 3rd trip of hurricane shopping... I surely have enough to survive at our house for a month or two, way more than I may need... but isn't that how I always shop? :)

Anyway, today's trip was partly just to get Grace out of the house, we were still home around noon and she was feeling couped up (i.e. I couldn't sit down without her climbing all over me and she was just getting generally wild!) After a trip to Lowe's and to Target we returned home. Obviously not enough excitement for Grace! She asked if we could go outside and take pictures!?! Knowing how difficult it usually is to get a 2 year old to cooperate with a photo shoot, I gladly grabbed my camera and followed her directions. Here is what followed...

"the flowers match my dress!"

"now take my picture over here!"
(in the driveway, with the street in the background... I wasn't too into it! but hey, it came out kinda cute, she obviously knows more than I do!)

and finally, on the swingset, where we always end up!

can you see it? okay, it's a little abstract with the spiral! but it's all there... eyes, nose and a big smile!

this one is sure to impress daddy!

okay, so this isn't a preschool creation, but I loved it! ...get ready to squint, tilt and make your eyes fuzzy... grace told me it was a mermaid- and I totally see it!! the face with flowing hair, eyes and a mouth... and a perfect fishtail! she's a budding monet!

did I really need another reason to play on the internet??

oh, but this will will be fun... a journal of the special times in the lives of my family. it will at least help me get over my guilt for not keeping a pregnancy journal!

we are so busy! grace has just started preschool 3 mornings a week. she absolutely loves it and I am amazed at what she has already learned in 2 short weeks. lessons about ideas that I have never even thought to teach her. did I mention the stuff she brings home? it's covering the pantry door and I just can't stop looking at it- I'm so impressed! as if 3 morning a week of preschool wasn't enough for a busy 2 year old, grace is also taking a weekly gymnastics classes as well as a weekly dance class were she is learning ballet and tap.... there will even be a recital!! she loves it all so much that I keep her in it, even though it's a busy schedule.

on top of grace's overbooked life of a preschooler, I'm expecting a new baby in January!!! the children will be exactly 3 years apart. my last appointment included a 15 week ultrasound. the tech seemed pretty sure she was looking at another baby girl... 80% sure to be exact. 80% sounded high to me, so I've gone with it... girl it is! I've chosen fabric for the nursery, purchased an outfit (it was on sale and a perfect coordinate to a dress of grace's- couldn't resist!), and I've started this blog, "2 Pouty Princesses." I will go back for another ultrasound a week from Friday and she should be able to give me an answer that is 100%. oh, the work ahead of me if she was wrong! a new nursery to plan and I'll have to start a new blog with a new name!

I'll be updating and adding pictures often, so drop back in to stay in the loop!
